Honors include selection as an “Emerging Healthcare Leader” by the National Council of State Legislators and Outstanding Alumni, University of Missouri. Judy was elected as the Democratic nominee in Missouri for U.S. Congress and State Treasurer. She has been a frequent guest speaker on health care and policy issues.has dedicated her life to improving the lives of the people she serves, whether it is through volunteering at church, advocating for affordable and accessible health care for all, speaking on behalf of those who have no voice, or building community infrastructure to address economic opportunity.
Judy is an experienced health care policy-maker, consultant, and a former lawmaker. She has also taught health policy, systems, and economics for Master’s level students. In doing so she has touched the lives of hundreds of students at the University of Missouri and Columbia College in Mid-Missouri, and Washington University in STL. Recently, she founded a nonprofit, SEED Success, to address poverty, positive youth development, and help kids learn to plan and save for their future.
While a state lawmaker in the Missouri General Assembly from 2005-2009, she was ranking member of the Budget, Health Care, and Education committees. She, also, formed the American Dream and the Health Information Technology Caucuses to educate legislators in both poverty reduction and technology. From 2009-2012, she served as the Regional Director, Region VII, for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in the office of the DHHS Secretary. As a consultant, she advocates for health care reforms and leveraging technology, improved health care quality, and social entrepreneurship.
